Welcome to this our first Village Newsletter
We hope that you will enjoy receiving this from time to time when we have local news and the occasional offer that we think that you would like to share with us. At last, the green shoots of recovery, the weather has improved and there are encouraging signs of spring approaching! Have you noticed that despite the efforts of some to mess up the Country, nature just carries on as it always does, it has the snowdrops opening, even some crocus? Daffodil shoots are reaching for the sky. The hedgerows are bursting into life with the gorse in full bloom and the birds are nesting! Have you realised how much better you feel with that little bit of sun and warmth? It's light when you get up in the morning and when you come home from work. It's time to wake up out of the winter gloom. |

Village update!
Following many years of design, discussion, legal and environmental issues we were finally in January granted detailed planning permission for the remaining accommodation and facilities. However we have taken a break from our development having completed so far 28 luxury cottages and apartments. With the Banks currently not co-operating we are looking for a kind benevolent soul with the financial resources and foresight to help us complete the Village. If there is anyone out there who would like to help us please give us a call! (you can’t fault us for trying!) We are currently showing booking levels well above those of last year with a lot of friends that we have met over the years returning to see how Hillfield’s is developing and many new ones too. So if you are looking to holiday with us this year early booking allows you a better choice. |

Planning a special occasion or just a get together.
The Village is the ideal location for those looking for accommodation for larger groups or for more than one family or group holidaying together. We now have six properties sleeping eight or more, plus several smaller properties conveniently located close to each other. Hillfields is a popular base for a family holiday with spacious grounds, children’s play area, grassy areas for ball games and an all-weather tennis court. Cots, high chairs and stair gates are provided and baby sitting can be arranged through a local company. Equally we can offer exciting rates for couples or smaller groups at some of our larger properties at certain times of the year (call Caroline on 07816 074387). For special occasions, hampers, wine, flowers, catering or a Treatment with Sally at the Garden Rooms can be arranged. (more information) |

Sunday 22nd March is Mothering Sunday;
Yes that’s right, it’s that time of year again; ignore it at your peril. Why not enjoy a family weekend with us here at Hillfields. You can book a pampering session with Sally in the Garden rooms as an extra special treat or dine in one of the fine restaurants in the area. Just bring yourselves and we will supply the flowers. Check out our ‘Special Occasion’s section on our web site for more suggestions for Mothering Sunday. But, and heed this, don’t leave it until the last minute. We and the local Restaurants will fill up and we really don’t want to disappoint you. Mothering Sunday has been celebrated in the UK on the fourth Sunday in Lent since at least the 16th century. Mothering Sunday was also known as 'Refreshment Sunday' or 'Mid-Lent Sunday'. No one is absolutely certain exactly how the idea of Mothering Sunday began, but we know that on this day, about four hundred years ago, people who lived in little villages made a point of going not to their local church but to the nearest big church. To what was called the Mother Church. People who visited their mother church would say they had gone "a mothering".
