The World is a massive floating condominium for the very rich, and one of the largest ships ever to drop anchor in the River Dart. The 196-metre ship is so big there is not enough room in the river to turn her around, so the Dart Harbour master Captain David White was faced with piloting the monster ship into the river stern-first with the aid of a tug. The World boasts 165 privately owned luxury 'residences' spread across 12 decks. The ship also includes sports venues, fitness centres, a spa, shops, entertainment and restaurants, pool and bars. She will be staying for three days before setting sail for Fowey. By the end of the year, 10 cruise ships will have dropped anchor in the Dart, bringing more than 3,000 passengers between them. more information

" Our Junior Reporter's Visit Pennywell"
We went to Pennywell Farm and it was awesome! There were lots of animals to feed. We fed Sheep, Cows and Santa’s Reindeer which had very soft antlers and Joe gave a Goat a bottle of milk. They breed very small Pigs which are for sale. Connor would have liked to buy one to bring home but Granddad said no!
We watched a Falconry show with a Barn Owl, a very young Kestrel and a Harrier Hawk. They flew very low over our heads but did not touch us. There were lots of things to ride on like Tractors. Joseph went on the Red Rocket Ride which was towed by a big Tractor and was very bumpy. Connor was old enough to go on a Run Rabbit Ride which had Carts going downhill very fast. Daddy also had a go as it was such good fun.
There was a very large slide called a Thunder Slide which Joseph went on. We both had Pony rides and had to wear helmets for safety. The Ponies were called Ben & Mike. After that we went on the Willow Maze which ended up in the Watch Tower where you could see for a very long way. Joseph went on the Fitness Trail and learned how to swing on a rope.
We both went pond dipping and caught water snails but could not catch any newts. We had lunch which was very nice and we enjoyed ourselves very much and would like to go again one day, it was great. more

Note from Grandma! The Staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful and made the day a complete success!
