Cued Speech Lunch at New Angel. 25th October 2009

CELEBRITY chef John Burton Race is to stage the second charity lunch at his Michelin-starred Dartmouth restaurant to raise money for a cause close to his heart.  Thanks to his staff, who give up their time on their day off, and suppliers who provided the produce for free, the event at the New Angel is hoping to raise funds for the Cued Speech Association.

Cued Speech is a Dartmouth-based national charity, which teaches deaf children to lip read, leading to literacy levels equal to hearing children.  Mr Burton Race, whose partial deafness was left undiagnosed as a child, said he was pleased to support the charity.  He said: "I was always told off for shouting at school.  It wasn't until I was nine years old they discovered how deaf I was. I spent most of my life lip reading."

The 3-course meal, with wine and coffee, will cost £35 per head. Please come at Arrival at 11.30am for drinks before lunch and to hear a five minute presentation about Cued Speech. The meal will be served at 12.30pm.  For tickets, contact Marion at the New Angel on 01803 839425 or Louise at Cued Speech Association on 01803 832784.  Booking Essential.
