"Fun at China Blue"

During our stay at Hillfields over New Year, Daddy and all of the boys went to play golf for the day. As my mate Sid and I are still too little for the golf course, we were stuck with the mummies and girlie's 'pottery painting!' To be honest, I wasn't particularly thrilled with the idea at first but boy was I wrong!

Sid and I had our own highchairs at the table and our mummies bought us yummy food from the lovely cafe to chomp on as we painted. The kind lady came to help my mummy get a good footprint onto a coaster as I do tend to wriggle a bit. The paint felt all lovely and squishy between my toes! All of the grown ups had a lovely time painting egg cups, tea pots, decorations and the like.

My only regret is that I didn't get to try one of the delicious looking cakes from the cafe as apparently I am still too young - there's always next time! This beats traipsing around a golf course any day!

Seahorse Restaurant Thursday 2nd February

Wine Supper Night with Susy Atkins & Tim McLaughlin-Green who proved such a popular formula at the Dartmouth Food Festival. Susy is familar to many from her many appearances as wine expert on BBC1's Saturday Kitchen, and is also the wine columnist for The Sunday Telegraph magazine. She is the author of ten wine books and is known for her accessible, down-to-earth approach to fine wine and food matching. Tim is an award winning sommelier who runs Sommelier's Choice and whose enthusiasm and knowledge is second to none. There will be lots to learn, lots to talk about and plenty of top quality food from Mitch Tonks and Mat Prowse in the kitchen. Cost £60 (which includes a glass of wine with each course). more

Valentine’s Day Tuesday 14th February - Come in and feel the love....There will be heart themed treats, our mood-setting Alf’s illuminated heart, yummy Pukka Love Tea & a glass of bubbly for the ladies when you bring your loved one in for breakfast!

Shrove Tuesday 21st February – We’ll be flipping those pancakes with a one-day-only Pancake Menu with the traditional lemon & sugar thin versions and thick American-style breakfast pancakes with maple syrup, bacon, bananas, honey....you choose! National Marmalade Week Monday 27th – Friday 2nd March – We love marmalade we do!!! We’ve been preserving up a vast array of different Seville orange marmalades for you to try during marmalade week! Come in to find out how to make our favourite breakfast accompaniment and try them out on your free piece of toast – which homemade marmalade is your favourite – traditional, ginger or walnut & whiskey?!

Dartmouth Comedy Festival Tuesday 6th – Saturday 10th Laugh more, live longer! What better way to brighten up a dull March evening?! Alf’s are hosting local Radio 4 and Guardian regular Matt Harvey, he went down a storm last year. Tickets are £16.50 including a rustic supper from the Flavel Box Office.
