there’s still “room in the village”!

"The Perfect Gift for Someone Special."

At a loss for what Christmas present to give, how about booking a romantic break for Valentines Day or a Mothers Day break for that special person, or an off season short break to show you care.  That could solve your problem, also would be a great treat for the whole family!

Treat yourself to the extra special local fine dining, peace and quiet, long walks.  You stay in Hillfields Village can be whatever you want it to be, in fact everything that adds up to a special celebration. The more active can work out on the tennis court, or go for a testing run. Children can wrap up snugly and burn off some energy in the outdoor playground and on the swings.  You can all explore the grounds and local country walks.

There’s so much to see and do all year round, with top class Restaurants (such as John Burton Race's New Angel restaurant and Mitch Tonks' Seahorse restaurant in Dartmouth), Stop off for a steaming mug of hot chocolate at Blackpool Sands after a bracing stroll on the beach, or you could have breakfast there, or for brunch at the ever popular,  lively and European style Café Alf Resco’s - they serve up a great English breakfast with fantastic coffee!

"Atlantic Waterbabes"

South Hams is supporting Dartmouth’s Jo Langmead and her rowing team the Atlantic Waterbabes in its attempt to row across the Atlantic. The team of four women aims to complete the 2,900 nautical mile Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Challenge from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua, leaving on 6th December.  They are aiming to break the women’s fours record of 51 days, 7 hours and 31 minutes which would really be a wonderful lifetime achievement.”

The crew made up of Jo, Karen Radband, Kiley Trehorel-daly, and Sarah Medland will be rowing for 12 hours every day (two hours on, two hours off) meaning they will need to consume 7,000 calories a day to maintain their momentum.   Dartmouth has a real rowing heritage. There are many ways that you can support the Atlantic Water Babes in their challenge, from sponsoring individual items of our kit, becoming a 'Land Crew' member or by making a donation using the following links: go to their website

"Recharge the Batteries after a great Christmas"

Hillfield Village has many large properties to accommodate family and friends, there are some fantastic 2010 short break offers

Finding the perfect venue for a large group break can be a challenge. Arranging the annual extended family gathering demands time and patience, and can involve organizing several families and mountains of presents, not to mention the food and drink!  Planning ahead, thinking about the type of property and the overall experience, plus pre-booking as much as possible in advance, makes for a much more enjoyable break all round.

When choosing a property for a large party, it is essential to think about the make-up of the group, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms that will be needed. Also who will be sleeping where is an important consideration if your party involves several generations. Agreeing and allocating bedrooms in advance avoids arguments, particularly if some are superior to others or there is only one en suite.  For some large parties booking several smaller houses or cottages close to each other may be more suitable.  All available at Hillfields Village.
