Ancient Sweet Chestnut lives again

The Village at Hillfield has a commitment to create a sustainable holiday destination, which seeks to reduce its overall effect on the environment and exceed the expectations of our guests. We will strive to minimise the harmful effects and maximise the beneficial influences which our activities have on the environment. As part of our ongoing environmental commitment at Hillfield, we have implemented many green measures.
The latest action involves the sad loss of a very old Sweet Chestnut tree located in a very difficult position near to the Coach House Cottage. Not wanting to simply remove the timber from site and see it be used for firewood we have challenged Matt our Tree Surgeon to recycle the timber on site. Matt is a magician with a chain saw and the children's play area now boasts a new "Giants" picnic table and stools as well as other seating.

Carriage Loft exceeded all my expectations!
In my visits to Hillfield's which have extended over some twenty years I have stayed in most of the smaller types of accommodation and have extremely satisfied with what has been offered. On my last visit however I stayed in Carriage Loft and this exceeded all my expectations so much so that this would be my very first choice. I would go has far as saying that I would change my holiday dates in order to stay in Carriage Loft.
To me the reasons are obvious it is spacious, very light and airy and the high ceiling height appeals to me very much. I hope that I am able to have may more memorable stays at Hillfields in the future. Thank you everyone connected with the running of Hillfields especially Caroline and Michael.
Hope to see you in the near future. Joe Bromilow |
