Discover the Taste of Autumn with Four Days of Food Heaven in Dartmouth

Get a taste of the excitement whether you’re a culinary expert or just a fresh food enthusiast by combining your love of locally produced delicacies with your well deserved autumn break.  The heart of the Festival is Dartmouth's historic Market Square which plays host to a rolling series of children's events, cookery demonstrations, markets, wine tasting's and much, much more. There are also running events in the South Embankment marquees (demo kitchen and stalls), The Flavel and, new for 2010, Avenue Gardens.  The famous art galleries are holding an open evening on festival Friday, and many of Dartmouth restaurants are creating special festival menus.  To avoid disappointment, we'd advise you to book restaurants well in advance (particularly The Seahorse, The Anzac Street Bistro and The Royal Castle Hotel) and reserve your tickets for the evening events as they tend to sell out well in advance.  Have a fantastic time! more

" In Praise of our Local Medical Professionals"

Regular guests and keen Anglers were beach fishing at Strete Gate, catching nothing and getting dark they decide to make their way back to the car one of them fell over a kerb flat on his face damaging his glasses, gashing his head and nose onlookers must have thought they had too much Scrumpy.  A call to the cottage hospital in Dartmouth put all but his glasses right.  Six stitches in his head and butterfly tape on his nose nearly as good as new and all with-in the hour.

The following morning it was Michaels turn to help out as a cry for help came from Keepers Cottage ‘How do you stop the washing machine once it’s going’ ‘Why’ was the reply……’I've put the washing on and my false teeth are in my shirt pocket’  He is now grateful for the return of his teeth which were intact even if they had a blue white tinge!  This is only the beginning of their stay.

We will let you know next month if there is anything else to report.  Another guest last week from Ireland visited the Hospital and doctors with a sick child and said they were fabulous.  Everyone at Hillfields would like to thank the local doctors, dentist, and hospitals for the help with our guests. Keep up the good work!

Avoid the increase in VAT book your 2011 holiday before January 2011 at 2010 prices, just give Caroline or Coast & Country a call to reserve your favorite property.

Looking forward to your next visit
