Celebrate Start Bay now in its 4th and biggest year provides a showcase for what Start Bay has to offer. Have-a-go activities on the day will include pizza making, bug hunting, wildflower spotting, pot throwing, a singing workshop, bush craft and wood working. Canoeing on the Ley as a ‘one off’ and a ‘secret Slapton’ walk took in parts of the nature reserve not normally seen by the public. Local children will interpret the story of Hallsands and talks will include local history and nature. A wide variety of stalls will provide information about activities in the area as well as goods and products from the Start Bay area.
Calling all budding performers 8-14 years old! On a stormy night in January 1917 the fishing village of Hallsands collapsed into the sea. Only a few ruins remain now you can tell the the story. Spend an action packed day exploring the story of Hallsands through the use of specially developed games and activities as you work towards a final workshop style performance to be shared as part of 'Celebrate Start Bay' The workshop will focus on character work, physical theatre, improvisation, the spoken word and working as an ensemble with an emphasis on fun, creativity and individuality.
